Current Students
As a current UMD student it is important for you to work with your advisor to determine how your transfer credits apply to you degree requirments. While Transfer Credit Services provides information on how courses transfer to UMD, it is up to your advising college and major department to determine the applicability of your transfer credits to your degree requirements.
All current UMD Students must to obtain permission from their advising college prior to taking courses away from UMD. This includes courses take away during winter and summer terms. Failure to obtain prior permission could result in the course(s) not be accepted by UMD or applied to your degree requirements. It is highly recommended that you utilize the online Transfer Course Database to determine if the course you are planning to take away from UMD has already been evaluated or not. If a course isn't listed in the database, it doesn't mean the course won't transfer. This simply means the course has yet to be evaluated for transfer to UMD. To request a course be evaluated for transfer follow the directions on transfer evaluation process.
NOTE: When using the online Transfer Course Database it is imperative that you pay close attention to the start and end dates and all footnotes. There are many courses listed in the database that will not transfer to UMD for current students, but may transfer for newly maticulated students. This information is indicated with a footnote in the database and it can be the difference in the course being accpted for transfer or not.
