International Transfer Courses
- Prospective Undergraduate Students - International
A prospective student with international transfer courses must apply for admission to UMD and be admitted as a degree seeking student before the transfer evaluation process can begin.
All degree-seeking undergraduate applicants for admission to the University of Maryland are required to submit an official credential evaluation for ALL international post-secondary transcripts from one of the two evaluators:
- ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators)
www.ece.org/ECE/Individuals/Education-Reports
Course-by-course evaluation of post-secondary/university coursework, including: grade point average calculation and upper division course designation - Josef Silny & Associates
Application form: www.jsilny.org/pdf/universityofMaryland.pdf
Course-by-course evaluation of post-secondary/university coursework, including: grade point average calculation and upper division course designation for students with more than 1 year of post-secondary/university education completed.
To ensure all transfer courses the student completed will be posted to the student’s University of Maryland record, a FINAL official transcript in the original-language and a literal (exact) certified English translation must be submitted to the University of Maryland after all coursework has been completed.
On occasion, a student may be required to provide an updated official credential evaluation. This would be in cases (not limited to):
- when the student earned a bachelor’s degree since the credential evaluation
- a significant number of coursework was completed that is not listed on the credential evaluation
- there are discrepancies between the transcripts provided to the credential evaluator and the University of Maryland
